Christine L. Beems, dba: gozarks.com
Her long and diverse business career as a media & marketing management specialist began in her early twenties when she owned and operated a small chain of retail salons in her birth-state, Michigan, and had to find ways to bring her products and services to the world in order to earn an income.
Forty years later, Beems, who has worked under various trade names since then (Happy Earth Creative Communications, Shirley Wire Service and, since the turn of the century, gozarks.com), has been responsible for developing and promoting the ‘brand name image’ of businesses, political candidates, governmental offices and educational agencies, including Holley Mountain Airpark, the Van Buren County Special School, the Conway Municipal Airport, the Booneville Municipal Airport and the City of Clinton.
As a volunteer, Beems has served on the boards of directors and/or provided promotional and business development services to the Professional Speakers Association of Michigan, the Gallagher Lake Property Owners Association, the Holley Mountain Chapter of the American Pilots Association, the Ozark Small Farm Viability Project (OSFVP) and the Arkansas-Oklahoma Sustainable Agriculture Network (AOSA). Her team-work with the OSFVP-initiated “Farmers Market Nutrition Coupon Program” resulted in the enactment of legislation which benefited Arkansas farmers and recipients of the Arkansas Department of Health Womens, Infants and Children (WIC) support program. For her part in this project, Beems was a 1993 recipient of an “Uppity Woman of the Year” award, presented by the Arkansas Women’s Political Caucus.
More recently (2003-2010) Beems worked as the Communications Director for sister-companies, Univeresal Pultrusions and Metalogic (note: as of May 2012 both of the foregoing websites remain much the same as she designed and developed them) and served as the volunteer coordinator of Arkansans for Medical Cannabis (A4MC), and as volunteer chair of The Committee for Honest Law Enforcement. In conunction with this work, Beems (as gozarks) published “HOAX: Manifesto of the Marijuana Prisoners Committee To End the War on Drugs,” authored by Inmate9.
While she ‘officially retired’ from her long professional career commensurate with her 62nd birthday in March of 2011, she subsequently served for a time as the volunteer Communications Director of Arkansas Time After Time, was an invited presenter on the topic of media relations at the 4th annual RSOL National Confence in September 2012, and has since July of 2014, served as the Editor-in-Chief of Help YourSelf: Community Resources Directory.
